Private Residence – Highrise Apartment at “Seven Bungalows”- North Mumbai

This apartment located on the 27th floor of a 36 floor high-rise in a “tony” area of North Mumbai is really spacious and has an aura of exclusivity to it, right from the Entrance reception area at the Concierge level at the Podium. There is only one apartment per floor, thus the lift lobby is almost a private lobby for the resident. As you enter the entrance lobby of the apartment, which has a private glass capsule elevator flanking one side you see a clear demarcation of spaces , entertain & kitchen areas to one side and the bedrooms, private den to the other, thus presenting a desirable feature of quietude for the owners. All rooms which are west facing offer a 180 degree panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and on a clear sunny day you could pick out the various precincts of Mumbai The design aesthetics are contemporary modern in outlook and have a theme of white on walls and ceilings and monochromatic earthy brown for floors and accent walls. The marble chosen was “Norwegian Beige”, with the private den in hardwood floor boards. The space for the private den has been created by amalgamating one bedroom with the attached bathroom, thus giving it a really spacious look. The prayer nook, along the private corridor leading to the bedrooms, is created by carving out one corner of the den with a corner glass wall, thus providing secondary natural light from the den into the prayer nook. Lighting has been predominantly designed for reflected illumination, as al light fixtures have been designed into the false ceiling coves, baring the one in the dining area over the dining table. The kitchen which has a spacious area has been designed keeping the wet and dry areas separated in a galley style design layout, with one wall demarcated for a breakfast table in cantilevered glass top design overlooking the full height glass windows. All furniture designs have been done in-house by the designers, with the same executed by a “specialist” furniture contractor. All three bathrooms have been done distinctively different, with the Master bathroom in “Italian marble”, the Guest bathroom in “Indian granite” and the son’s bathroom in Vitrified Ceramic tiles. The interior design has an aesthetic appeal that does give a spacious as well as a “tied in” look.
